Best Selling SweetsThis is a question we are asked all the time What are the best selling British sweets? So we will tell you over the last decades first and you may be surprised how little things have changed. We also have a poll on the right for you to add your favourite sweets, we will update this list each month. In the 1960s Britains best selling and loved sweets were what has to be the number one of all time Mars Bar, we also notice Arrowmint gum in the list, sadly no longer available but these minty pellets are fondly remembered, also Milky Way which is still popular today but back then the fluffy filling was brown not white as it is now and the chocolate covering was a lot thicker and part of the enjoyment was biting the chocolate off first before enjoying the centre 1 Mars bar
We move on to the 1970s and again the list of best selling British sweets has changed very little, we now see the Twix bar which is biscuit, toffee and chocolate, Bounty which we are thinking must have been the milk chocolate coated and Smarties, not longer available in the famous round tube though which is sad 1 Mars bar 1 Mars bar
And so on to the 1990s where we see Rowntrees Kit Kat in the top spot, also Wrigleys Extra chewing gum is in there, boxed chocolates Roses from Cadbury at number four and Nestles Quality Street at number seven 1 Kit Kat The 2000s brings a new decade but still not much of a change in favourite sweets, this just goes to show when new bars come and go the old memory lane favourites still stay strong and very popular, Dairy Milk are back with the top place and second we have Wrigleys gum, a couple of different sweets are Celebrations a new boxed chocolate assortment from Mars and Haribo jellies and gums, they have a vast range to choose from so slightly unfair that they have been included 1 Cadbury's Dairy Milk
